Employment Announcement:

Elia Baltes will be the new Community Development Director at DASH for LaGrange, Inc. effective August 1, 2017.

Elia has worked with DASH for over 13 years. Elia held previous positions at DASH in housing counseling and outreach; directing multi-cultural services with the Community & Housing Initiative for Latinos & Immigrants (CHILI); and in property management.  Her most recent role, as Homeownership Manager, includes financial counseling and education responsibilities where she obtained numerous certifications from HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development).  Prior to her employment with DASH, Elia held management positions at Meridian International, Inc. and Walmart.  In addition to her several professional certifications in financial counseling and property management, Elia is also a registered mediator and interpreter (Spanish-English).

Currently, Elia  is a member of the Racial Trust Building Initiative; a board member/member with Literacy Volunteers of America and Kiwanis; and an active mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters (where she served on the board from 2006 – 2013).  She had previous roles on LaGrange Housing Authority board of commissioners and Harmony House board of directors.  Elia is also an avid volunteer with Bringing the Ages Together, LLC and a variety of Kiwanis sponsored community activities.

As a resident of LaGrange, Elia brings not only specific knowledge of the Hillside community where DASH has focused much of our community work, but a broad understanding of LaGrange communities.  Through her assignments at DASH, Elia has worked with most all non-profit and government agencies focused on community improvement.  She also has specific experience working with current DASH community programs like Paint The Town.

Our DASH Board of Directors and staff welcome this exciting change and look forward to Elia’s role as Community Development Director.
